Rice protein

Silver· human data

A vegan protein, low in lysine, usually blended with pea.

Rice protein is a hypoallergenic vegan protein that is relatively low in the amino acid lysine, so on its own it is a less complete source. It is most often paired with pea protein, which supplies the amino acids it lacks.

Some trials of higher-dose rice protein report muscle and strength gains similar to whey, but the evidence is thinner than for whey or soy. As a pea-and-rice blend, with adequate total protein, it is a reasonable plant-based choice.
