CBD (cannabidiol)

Silver· human data

Also known as: Cannabidiol

A non-intoxicating hemp compound with strong epilepsy evidence but preliminary wellness data.

CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabis compound. Its strongest evidence is as a prescription medicine for certain rare epilepsies; the interest here is the over-the-counter wellness use for anxiety, sleep and pain.

For those everyday uses the human evidence is genuinely preliminary — some promising anxiety and sleep signals, often at higher doses than consumer products provide, and highly variable product quality and labelling. It can interact with medications (via liver enzymes), so check with a clinician if you take any.
