Reliably raises growth hormone in humans, which is the easy part; the hard part is that a raised GH reading has never been shown to translate into the physique changes it is sold for.

What it is
GHRP-2, also known as pralmorelin, is a synthetic growth-hormone releasing peptide. It mimics ghrelin, acting on the same receptor as your own hunger hormone to trigger a pulse of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. In some countries it is used as a diagnostic agent to test whether the pituitary can produce growth hormone at all.
Composition
A short synthetic peptide of the growth-hormone releasing peptide family, closely related to GHRP-6 and hexarelin. What is sold online is a research chemical.
Proposed mechanism
It binds the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor, producing a pulse of growth hormone. Unlike a GHRH analogue such as sermorelin, it works through the ghrelin pathway, which is why it also increases appetite.
Claimed benefits
Muscle gain, fat loss, better recovery and improved sleep, all downstream of the raised growth hormone.
What the evidence shows
Silver· human data. That GHRP-2 raises growth hormone in humans is not in question — it is well documented, which is precisely why it works as a diagnostic agent. The gap is between that measurement and any outcome you would actually notice. Administered growth hormone itself increases lean mass in healthy adults largely through fluid retention, with little measurable gain in strength, so raising your own is not obviously a better route to a result that was never there.
It also raises cortisol and prolactin more than the more selective secretagogues such as ipamorelin, which is a trade-off rarely mentioned when it is sold.
Legal & regulatory status
Not a licensed medicine in the UK. Growth-hormone secretagogues are prohibited at all times under the WADA list, and detection methods are well established.
Known risks & unknowns
Marked increases in appetite, water retention, tingling in the hands, raised cortisol and prolactin, and reduced insulin sensitivity. Long-term safety in healthy adults is unstudied, and research-chemical products carry the usual purity and contamination risks.
